Day 1 – 60 Minutes of Cardio
February 26th, 2007 by Court
When I told you about the new positive change I wanted to implement, which is doing sixty minutes of cardio per day. I promised that I would document how it went. I’m going to type of some notes throughout the upcoming days so that you all know how it’s going. Here are my thoughts from Day 1.
1:45 p.m.
Well I just got back from the gym and am feeling pretty good. I have a workout partner, and we’re going to meet up later this afternoon for a 45 minute run. I figured that I wouldn’t want to stay after to finish my 60 minutes, so I decided to go before and get some running done. I weighed in before I started, and found out that I will start this journey officially at 217 lbs.
I ended up running on an elliptical trainer for 45 minutes. I decided that in order for me to do at least 60 minutes of cardio per day, I would need to do cardio that didn’t hurt my joints. I don’t think I’ll be running much on the flat treadmill during this time period. Right now I’m feeling really good! I have a ton of energy, of course that’s the post-cardio energy talking and my energy level will probably fade over the next hour.
I’ll finish the day with 90 minutes of cardio. I don’t think I would have done 45 minutes worth in my first workout of the day if I didn’t have a workout partner. It’s a little easier to make it back for the second time if you’re going with someone else.
4:45 p.m.
I just got back from my second 45 minute cardio session. I actually felt pretty good! I ran on the elliptical trainer again. I actually went slightly slower this time, especially in the beginning. My legs were just a little bit tired in the beginning, but after about five minutes they warmed up pretty well.
Right now I feel like a million bucks! I have tons of energy (which I always do after a good run), but I also feel really good mentally. I made it through the first day of my trial period; I even did a little extra, finishing the day with 90 minutes of cardio complete.
I’m really curious to see how it’s going to affect my body; I’m wondering if I’ll be really tired today after my body cools down. One thing is for certain, I’ll pretty more tired tomorrow than I an today.
Tomorrow will probably be the worst day of this whole thing because I did some extra today, and tomorrow I’m hitting the weights with my legs. I think I’ll get at least 30 minutes out of the way sometime before I lift because it’s pretty tiring to do cardio after. I’m not too worried about it though, mentally I feel great.
7:24 p.m.
I’m feeling a little bit drowsy as my body calms down from the runs, but I still feel really good. I’ve been working for a few hours and I’ve noticed that my thoughts have been really clear. I think it really is good for the mind to exercise! I can tell that I’ll be going to bed early tonight.

Try creatine. You won’t feel drowsy after your runs. In fact, you’d want to burn more pavement!
