New Layout And Widgets - Same Theme
April 16th, 2007 by CourtNew Layout
I spent the morning adapting my current theme into a 2 column layout. I love the theme and have been using it for a while, but felt that it was a little confusing for my readers, because of the complicated 3 column layout.
I also removed some bugs from the CSS that were making the theme look one way in Internet Explorer, and completely different in Firefox. Those of you that have designed in CSS know exactly what I’m talking about!
Hopefully you like the new layout!
New Widgets
- Technorati Favorites
- MyBlogLog Recent Readers
Technorati Favorites
I’ve added a button for you that allows you to add the blog to your Technorati favorites. If your interested in installing such a button on your site, here’s the code:
You’ll notice where I added ‘yoursite.com’ into the code; you’ll need to add your domain in right there.
MyBlogLog Recent Readers
As you can see, I’ve also added a widget that shows my recent readers. It’s kind of cool to be able to see the people that are reading your site!
To get this widget, you need to setup an account with MyBlogLog.com, which is kind of the MySpace for bloggers. You can meet and socialize with other bloggers.
Once you have an account, you will go to your ‘My Profile’ page while logged in, and you will see a button called, “Get Widgets.” If you use that button, MyBlogLog will give you instructions that will help you to set up your widget. You can choose the colors and how you would like it to look. At the end, they will give you a script that you will add to your site’s theme.
What Do You Think?
Do you like the new layout? Do you like the new widgets? If you hate it, let me know! I’ll change it back if you guys don’t like it. The purpose of the change is to make it easier for you!
