A good condensed article, but their advantages to blogs that traditional websites do not have. Traffic, for one, is a big one. It is much harder to get traffic to your site if it is new and does not have at least a blog in a sub folder.
Getting ranked for content takes more effort for a traditional website and really takes much more effort and dedication. Search Engines love blogs and treat them with much more affection.
The disadvantages of blogs are that they do not allow other scripts, such as splash pages and sub folders on most of the, at least I have not figured out how to do all of this yet.
If you have any suggestions or knowledge of how to do this I would love to hear it.

I have set-up a "work at home jobs" website called Skyline Revenue. Take time to visit and see the top 3 work at home jobs I have listed.

Thanks for the info about monetizing! I use Commission Junction and Clickbank in addition to some of the ones you mention. I've also received checks from Directory M! I have quite a few websites, so I have the opportunity to choose ads that fit my site's profile. I've enjoyed reading your posts!
Thanks,
Penny

Very interesting, I have always used Front Page and am just learning a new niche program for my sites like tennis bracelets, but when you say Dreamweaver is easier, I may have to check it out!

For someone's first website I don't know if it would be easy to create a traditional site... the ease of updating and adding content with a blog is much better suited for those just starting!

A great site which pays you a set amount each month for sticking adverts on your site. You get £3 per advert and you can have five adverts per site and up to 5 sites. It goes straight in to your paypal account so you don't have to give any bank details away.

So if you have 5 pages on your site you can get £15 per month for sticking the ads on it.

Here it is
