Google, Yahoo and others all indicate that the eye naturally moves to the top left of the page so the navigation bars are places predominantly on the right and the adsense on the left. Have a look at http://www.mortgagelendersandbrokers.com which is a new mortgage lenders and brokers site based in the UK and you'll see what I mean. I think I can… many of my readers stay on the site for more than 1 hour and view 20-30 pages. I don’t think they would do that if my site provided a bad user experience!
