Well, my blog is DO-follow. Due to spamming, I obviously moderate the comments, and trash ruthlessly "generic" comments that are simply "cut and paste".

I think the spam can be moderated manually. As the most important thing is that ppl. coming to your site and taking an interest. You encourage a lot of interest when you allow do follow

This is absolutely fascinating - I too had no idea that no-follows were defaults - or that they existed - I assume that they were done to stop spammers - but at this stage of my blogging career I will just stick with moderating the spam!
Can you add me to the D-List - I think I got the plugin installed right!

"No Follow" must have came initially in existence because of the Spamming methods used by warez and other websites. Now whatever has been implemented, our task is to make as many blogs join the "DoFollow" wagon as possible.

I just think that using the "nofollow" tag only harms the blogs. Some people do not even bother anymore to comment on their favorite topics because they don't gain anything.

It's not that you should have something to win when you're posting your comments, but knowing that your comment is not appreciated (not by the regular people, but by a search engine) it's like saying "I don't care about what's your opinion".

<strong>The 'nofollow' tag has to STOP!</strong> The new version of the blogs (WordPress, etc) should have an option where you can set if you wish to add the 'nofollow' tag, but it should be "OFF" by default!

The first plugin I have installed after moving to wordpress is “DoFollow” from semilogic. This was one of the biggest reason I moved from blogger to wordpress - though some people are coming up with blogger scripts to remove nofollow tag - it’s pretty easy in wordpress and I am happy yo join the "DoFollow" wagon.

I want to pass on the link love, because soon, my blog gonna be PR4-5 in next update as it has gathered 5000+ backlinks in last 3 months.
