New Technorati System?
May 5th, 2007 by CourtHas anyone else noticed that Technorati doesn’t show the number of links in this section anymore? Today it looks like the top picture, and it used to look like the bottom one. Can you see the major difference?
Just yesterday it said something like 244 links from 80 blogs. The one I dug out of the archives says 123 links from 45 blogs. The new one is showing your Authority, which is new here, and Rank. Authority is obviously the amount of blogs you have links from.
I bet you anything that they’re trying to make it so that not as many people realize that their Technorati ranking is based 100% on link quantity from other blogs. Surely they’ve seen the link trains that have been going around, I’m sure they don’t love them.
It could be a new system, but I really doubt it. I bet they’ll keep using the exact same system but just don’t want to show the way they calculate it anymore.

The first time I checked technorati after the change, I thought that I was looking at the wrong page. I spent a few minutes trying to figure out what was going on….I wish they would mention changes.
