I started a website and wrote a few articles. I submitted them and used Digg to social bookmark the website. There was eleven pages in the site and Google indexed everyone of them overnight. Some pages actually sit on page 2 of Google. Article marketing works exactly as you have described. One comment though is when submitting one article to many directories make it a easy quick to follow article and save your very best article for only one directory. Works everytime.
