New Revenue Stream - TheNewsRoom.com
June 4th, 2007 by CourtI love it when I find sponsored posts that I will really use.
Here’s a very interesting, new revenue stream that I’ve been looking into today. The News Room is offering to pay you to embed news videos into your site. Since they have news from almost every category you can think of, this revenue stream will probably work for almost every blogger out there!
After signing up at the NewsRoom, I went straight to the ‘Technology’ category (found in Science), where I found 20 different videos from today. They were all breaking news stories from around the world. The News Room has stories from almost everywhere.
I can see this service being a huge win-win for myself and other bloggers. Think about it, every afternoon I can post industry news that can help keep my readers up to date, and I get paid $4 for every 1,000 impressions. Extra money for me while keeping readers up to date with the latest news from my industry. I’m not seeing too many negatives here…
The videos are super easy to install. I looked through their categories, and chose a news video that I wanted to show. I then clicked a button called ‘Mash’, and TheNewsRoom.com gave me a piece of code that I copied with my mouse. In order to make WordPress leave the code alone, in my WordPress admin I went to ‘User’ and then ‘Your Profile’ - I had to uncheck the box that says ‘Use The Visual Editor When Writing’. I then pasted in the code for the video into my post!
It’s that easy.I’ve talked before about the importance of using multiple revenue streams in order to make the most from your sites and blogs. I’m excited about this one, I think it’s going to work out really well.

So you get paid when the video is watched 1000 times? I don’t think I get it because that doesn’t seem very likely to me.

No, you actually get paid for just the impressions. This means that if the video is on your home page, you get paid when your home paid is viewed 1,000 times!
It doesn’t matter how many times the video is viewed!

But the display of newsroom cannot be customized.. It looks too big… It ruins my blog’s design…

Just as an fyi for everyone, TheNewsRoom doesn’t payout per impression on their videos–they only pay if the users clicks and watches the whole thing. I inquired about this a couple of weeks ago and that’s what they told me.
