Saturday Case Study – HowToMobile.com (Week 8)
July 28th, 2007 by CourtIt’s now been 51 days since I started HowToMobile.com. The site has done surprisingly well considering its age. The hits started really slow for the first two weeks, and then traffic jumped quite a bit. The site then had a 10 day love affair with Google between 6/4 and 6/14. Since then, traffic has been slightly harder to come by – however the site is still doing really well. Here’s what the traffic looks like since the site was started on June 6:
Stat Recap
The site did almost exactly the same this week as it did last week with almost exactly 4,000 page loads from 1,923 visitors. I’ve realized that HowToMobile.com is in desperate need of some link popularity – it isn’t ranking as well as it should be and that’s why. I’ll be working on getting some major links for the site over the next few weeks.
Adsense Revenue
During week 8 the site made $17.89 from Adsense bringing the total amount the site has made from Adsense to $102.93. The site is averaging about $2 a day so far.
Kontera Revenue
During week 8 HowToMobile made $7.60 from Kontera. It’s nice to have some additional income from another source. I’m always nervous if I only have one revenue stream on a site.
Traffic Strategy
This site is in desperate need of some link popularity. During the next few weeks I’m going to be rewriting some of the content from the site, and submitting it to Article Marketer so that I can get some links. I’m feeling right now that the site isn’t ranking nearly as well as it can, because the link popularity is just way too low.
The site now has quite a bit of content, but it could use more. During this next week I’m going to get links and add some more content. Luckily I never have to worry about finding stuff to write for HowToMobile, the possibilities are endless. That’s why I would choose a niche that has a lot of info to cover.

Hi Courtey,
More than $100 in 51 days! This is pretty good, I reckon.
I would love to see you sharing on every case study post, some stats about where the traffic come from.

Thats great news, I think you will get a lot of success with your website. Hopefully the traffic will continue to improve for a while yet.

Courtney…..Listen to this. After last major google index I had 6 pages indexed. Ive been working my buns off and as I put pages on my site, they were being put in supplemental. Today, they just put 260 pages on the index. Yesterday 6 index and 254 supplemental, today all index. For localref.com!
I want to thank you. I hope its not some kind of strange mistake!

Always nice to see that I am not the only want experimenting.
$100 in 50 days is good.
Some link building will defend get you more traffic.
Will watch and follow this experiment.

Thank you for this 8 week case study. I learned a lot about the mindset and the work ethic one needs to have when starting a new site.
I was just wondering what has happened since the 8th week? Did you decide to put your efforts into another project instead?

HowToMobile seems like it has been abandoned and has no monetization, even when accessed from an SERP. Did something happen to prompt this?
