This Site Is Now A Democracy (Kind Of)
August 29th, 2007 by CourtI’m always curious about what everyone wants to learn about the most. Since I’ve been doing internet marketing for a while, I’m sure that I suffer from at least some relativity blindness. The purpose of this post is for you to be able to vote on what knowledge you feel is missing for you. If there’s something that’s missing that isn’t included in the poll, please feel free to comment! I started this site to make sure that people can actually learn how to make money online, and your comments here can help me to help you! Thanks.

polls are so fun, don’t you think?

Polls are fun! I’m always so curious about what people think!

My main goal is to learn about SEO. However, I also wish to keep an eye on ways to monitize a site. You are providing meaty content about both. However, I think you are sometimes focused too much in blog websites, and there are other kind of websites waiting for your advices.
By the way, I get the javascript “Unknown error” each time I click on the “Back to vote screen”. The page cannot go back to the poll. Perhanps it happens only in my computer.

Thanks for your insight Kersson! I really value that. I’ll try to keep other types of sites in mind, I’ve actually made a lot of money with them. Thanks again.

Nice poll. Personally my vote is for the top two (as in if I could vote for both I would). I mean, for a lot of us, we want the spoils of blogging, but of course you need traffic to get there. In any event, I’m looking forward to what you have in store!

Thanks for your thoughts Bush Mackel! I think that traffic seems to be the winner so far. That’s kind of what I thought would happen, but I wanted to find out what you guys thought. Thanks!

Getting traffic and monetising, definitely

Sounds good Jonk!

Court, I love what you’re already doing. Your site is my number one read, and it has been for some time now. You’ve kept a steady stream of info on how to get a blog up and making money. The only thing I’d suggest is including a statement at the end of each post (like you do with the RSS Feed statement) that says something similar to…
“If you have questions about how to build a money making website, send them to me using my contact form. I can’t answer every question, but I’ll get to as many as possible.”
Then make the words “contact form” clickable. I think you’ll get more ideas for articles than you’ll be able to handle!

Thanks, that means a lot ru4eal! I really do try to post the best stuff I possibly can, and everyone’s input will help me a lot with that.
I’ve been thinking about adding a signature at the bottom of my posts for a while now. Your idea for the contact form will fit into that very nicely.

Honestly, I think there are enough sites that focus on industry-related buzz that unless you’re one of the first two sites to break the story, or it’s a story too big not to comment on, you’re just adding a bunch of noise to the conversation.
Court, on the other hand, has just about the most USEFUL site, along with Dosh Dosh, that I can think of to point a new blogger to.
Keep it coming.

Thanks for commenting J.D., it’s been great to hear what everyone has to say. I kind of feel the same way about all of the industry buzz, which is why I don’t post about most of it.
Usually if I do post about the buzz, it’s because I have a problem with it, lol.

Court,
Your blog is my favorite. It’s the most informative and always the first one I click in my reader.
I voted for ways to get traffic, because I find that one very important. Most new bloggers focus on getting money and that’s it, but money won’t come unless the traffic arrives first.
Personally, I’d also like to learn more WordPress tips.
Thanks for the poll!

Hey Hey Tay!
Getting traffic is definitely huge, at least if you want to break out of the $10 per day range. There is a limited amount of PPP that can be done without much traffic but it won’t take anyone very far.

Court -
I’m a first time commenter, but have been reading since the beginning of June I believe.
I would really love to know how your “How to Mobile” website is doing. I’ve been waiting for updates for awhile and just did a search and saw that you haven’t posted about it since July! Please do consider giving us an update on that =)
Love your site! I’ve learned so much, thank you!

I’m all about traffic generation. Give me the SEO. (but please make sure to also give me some industry buzz, monetization tips and wordpress updates too!)
August 30th, 2007 at 11:44 am
I voted for more traffic because I couldn’t pick all 4. In order from most-wanted to next-to-most-wanted:
1. More Traffic
2. WordPress Tips
3. Monetization
4. Industry News/Buzz/Hype
August 30th, 2007 at 5:32 pm
I voted for traffic generation as it is the single most important factor in growing your blog. Without traffic, there is no point knowing about all of the different monetization strategies.
It looks like most of the voters voted for that too. I look forward to more articles on traffic generation.

Court, would you consider doing plugin evaluations in the spirit of your recent SEO’d themes effort? You did such a great job with that. I know you already have a plugins page, but I’m interested in other plugins as well. For example…
Adsense-Deluxe+
verses
original Adsense-Deluxe
It appears the original adsense-deluxe site is down, but I can get you a copy of the zip file, if you’re interested.

To be fair I think I know most of the ways to monetize my website – now I’m always looking at ways of increasing my traffic, because I think this is the most important aspect of owning a website.
