5 Emerging ‘Make Money Online’ Talents
October 22nd, 2007 by CourtHere’s a list of some of the ‘make money online’ up and comers that I’ve had my eye on. The people that I have chosen here have both the talent and momentum to make it work with a make money online style blog or website. There are of course a lot more sites that could potentially make it, but these are all in the cusp of getting pretty big.
45n5.com
45n5.com is a really interesting blog that became well know due to the Top 100 Make Money Online Blogs list they created and maintain. The site was started by Mark Wielgus in 2005 and has definitely come a long way since then. I can tell you that Mark is very creative and I can see in him the talent to make it as a meta-blogger, which is basically a blogger that teaches people about blogging and internet marketing. One really cool thing about 45n5 is that you will find a lot of videos that Mark has made to better explain concepts.
Carl Ocab
Carl Ocab - Make Money Online With A 13-Year Old is a site that is somewhat well known and gaining popularity. Carl is now 14 and lives in the Philippines. There are a lot of things that you can learn from Carl, including his brilliance in naming his site in a way that really develops his brand. You can find Carl consistently in the top 3 in Google for ‘make money online’.
I’ve read Carl quite a bit, and have also communicated with Carl through email. If you read through his site you will discover that Carl has been criticized quite a bit. Carl just keeps on truckin’ and that’s why Carl should be an inspiration to just about everyone. He doesn’t use his youth as an excuse, he just keeps working on his business. He’s been working with websites since he was 12.
John Cow
JohnCow.com is a make money blog that parodies John Chow. When I first saw the cow’s site I have to admit that I seriously doubted that it would get anywhere. I didn’t think that the cow would have anything unique to say, and that was definitely wrong. To tell the honest truth, the cow’s content has been much better than Mr. Chow’s lately. A few posts I’ve noticed at JohnCow.com lately are:
- Rehashing Is Recashing
- Meet The JohnCow.com Promo Girls (Don’t worry, no adult content - they’re babies!)
Despite being a parody blog, the cow is insanely creative with his marketing tactics. I would definitely take a look sometime soon.
Cash Quests
Cashquests.com is making it happen for a lot of different reasons, but the one that stands out in my mind is that Kumiko (the owner) speaks her mind. She doesn’t give a rats what other people think about concepts. She does her own evaluations which often end up being against the grain. Some people have criticized CashQuests for being so cutthroat about making money. I personally find it refreshing that her intentions are fully disclosed.
CashQuests is currently #41 on the top 100 list for make money online blogs, but should be much higher. PageRank plays a pretty big part in the ranking algorithm and CashQuests was started after the last update. If it wasn’t for that, both of our sites would definitely be in the top 15.
Zac Johnson
Super Affiliate Zac Johnson has a very different approach to making money online than what most of you are into. Zac uses a lot of paid methods to promote affiliate offers, and since I’ll getting into that somewhat I was instantly attracted to what he had to say. Zac has made over $25,000 in the last three months by promoting affiliate offers from NeverBlueAds. I’d say he’s doing ok.
What’s cool about Zac is that he’s very open to sharing the methods that he’s using to make money through affiliate marketing. You wouldn’t even know the names of most affiliate marketers because they keep a very low profile. I started reading Zac’s work recently and he has a spectacular site.
I really think that these five bloggers are going to make it pretty big if they keep doing what they’ve been doing. They all have unique abilities and have pretty significant audiences, both of which are needed to take it from the B-list to the A-list.

What will be real interesting is to revisit this post in a year and see how each blog is doing.
thanks for the great mention and glad to be in such good company

That will be super interesting. Ironically some people that have a lot of talent stop working at it! In the last year I’ve seen some really good blogs fall of the map because people gave up.
You have some really cool stuff going on at 45n5 right now, well done! I’m excited to see how your social network ideas work out!

BTW Court, the list should be 6. You missed your blog

CashQuests has never once posted my comments so I am not a fan. Whether they go in her spam box or what I don’t know. She has also become quite rude and conceited so I don’t bother going there very often.
I have never liked the bloggers who brag about how much they make. Why people read and almost worship sites like Chow and CashQuests is beyond me.

For some reason your comment over at OpTempo got snagged by Akismet as spam. I recovered it out of there about a day later but I don’t see why it would be sent there in the first place. Maybe Akismet doesn’t like you for some reason.

Aww, shucks! You made us blush. Thanks for the mention Mr Tuttle!

Those days CashQuests was remarkable and refreshing. But recently, it has drew lots of flaks from its readers. Others have started questioning her credibilty and earnings as well. Her recent post was brutally criticized and ridiculed. Kimoko should start to quest for better and more practical money-making ideas.

Your list is spot on, Court. I added those five to my reader at about the same time as I added you last spring (right as I was starting out) and they are part of my “must read” list. Another thing they all have in common is unique voice. I think you could hand me a post from each and I could tell you which one wrote each post. I especially love Kumiko’s no-bullsh!t attitude.

Hi Court,
thanks for the list. i never knew about 3 out of 5 in the list. i believe we need to look at top blog and learn from them and feel their environment so we can emulate to better our site or blog. it is one way of understanding human behavior and that i believe is the key in having online success. we only see what we know.
