CashQuests Sold For $15,000!
November 19th, 2007 by CourtThe news of the day is that CashQuests.com is for sale was sold for $15,000. I wanted to officially congratulate Kumiko because I consider her to be a friend and selling a site for that kind of money is a huge accomplishment.
I speculated back in August that CashQuests may be sold after the PageRank update - I guess I was right! Kumiko positioned herself brilliantly for the sale by developing a strong, popular brand that wasn’t specific to her. She took her name totally out of it, and because of that the new site owner won’t have to deal with that. I figured this is what Kumiko was doing and recognized the genius in that choice.
Lesson learned? If you want to sell your site, make sure that you establish a brand. My brand is my name, and that wouldn’t be wise if I planned to ever sell this site. Good thing that’s never going to happen.

I know CashQuests has been successful but it still kind of blows my mind that she was able to sell for so much. Now I\’m thinking maybe I shouldn\’t have used my name…
Of course, there ARE a lot of Jason Clarks out there…

But the site is making $1400/month x 10 months= $14 000. So it got one more month
Like Court, my site is my family name and so not for sell. Just buying my full name would had cost me $300. No thanks!

It will be interesting to follow these blogs and see if the new owners can continue their popularity.

This is interesting .. I don’t know about all that .. it is not like buying facebook or youtube .. at the end of the day the owner don’t push is soul and though in those website but with a blog is different.. cashquest was popular by the way the owner present her stuff.. now with a different owner i don’t know if they will be able to keep up the good work or they will change the style.. to be continued…

Potentially selling in the future was a consideration in selecting the OpTempo domain name. If it hadn’t been, I would have probably setup Wordpress under my personal name domain and done the same blog there.
Of course, establishing a unique brand is the real trick.

I don’t understand why she makes so much money off Text Link Ads and Paid reviews and keeps her PR5.
I had 2 TLA and 4 PPP and am now demoted to a 0. Something fishy is going on.

Well, congrats to Kumiko if that’s a real name. Hope the new owner can maintain the vibrancy of CashQuests. Maybe I should think of selling, too, but my site don’t have that much traffic, LOL. It has a flexible name that could be applied to any niche though.

It’ll be interesting to see how it pans out. I’ve recently unsubscribed to a couple of sites that changed ownership purely because I enjoyed the writing style of the original owner. I hope that won’t be the case with CashQuests but we’ll have to wait and see, eh?

Never read CQ actually, so I can’t comment on the ‘value’ of it. But the sale is talked about a lot. Checked my RSS feeds today, and all I saw was CQ sold CQ sold …
Kudos to her for the big bucks.
I read somewhere else that the reason she’s selling the blog is because of Google and the PPP witchhunt thing. That her blog is mainly paid reviews and stuff. Again I never read her blog so I don’t know if that’s true.
