BlogRush Was In, Now It’s Out

December 19th, 2007 by Court

BlogRush WidgetTruth be told, I think I could get a somewhat decent amount of traffic with BlogRush if I was willing to keep trying to push people into my downline. The dilemma for me is that I believe that this would only help me.

I believe that most bloggers will not be able to make BlogRush a significant traffic source. Why? It’s simple math. If I have more than a hundred people in my downline, and only get 5-15 visitors per day, what does that tell me about people that don’t have as much leverage to build downlines? 0-2 visitors per day.

The fact that most bloggers will get very little benefit from BlogRush means that it’s time for me to officially say that I’m 100% done with it. It was worth giving it a look, but isn’t worth continuing to ask people to sign up in my downline if I no longer believe it can help them.

I got rid of BlogRush back in late November when I switched to a new theme and I just didn’t want a huge widget taking up space.

But funny enough, I had two people sign up under me so I still get a hit or two a week from it.

It was never much good at sending traffic though…

Yeah I kept it this long because I do get a little traffic each day from it. I would have to push it to make it grow though and I don’t think it’s worth it for other people so… deleted. :)

Yup, I’m going to be removing it over the Christmas break whilst I make a few cosmetic changes to my site. It really hasn’t worked out from a traffic perspective.

Interestingly enough, though, I have picked up a couple of new sites as a result of them appearing on my widget so I guess it can work but I just feel I can utilise the space better.

[…] Well now that was a surprise to me. I have searched the pages of my site thoroughly and objectively. I have compared it to other blogs and concluded I will never satisfy their criteria. Making Sales Making Money will remain intact just as it is for better or worse. I will not re-submit my site for further review. I just read a post on one of my favorite blogs Interesting Observations, fresh-perspectives.net and apparently Pearl suffered the same judgment from BlogRush. Actually another quality site, filled with quality content, but falling short of the criteria to continue with BlogRush. I have added Interesting Observations fresh-perspectives.net to my Featured List. If you are interested in the being listed , just link to this post and I will return the effort. Others are sure to follow […]

I have never even tried it. It seems like I made a good decision. :)

[…] Court can’t go for Blogrush anymore… I couldn’t either, back in September. […]

Court… if your blog and it’s traffic and ranking can only score a few hits from it… what hope have smaller publishers got???

Considering the space it takes up for the SIX hits I’ve had since the start of November… putting an ad in the space instead might be a better idea :)

Cheers
Stephen

I never used BlogRush on my blog and I also never clicked on a link from a BlogRush widget. I think it was a good idea, but when you see it on every other blog it just kind of blends in.

I am still using BlogRush, and I haven’t made my decision whether I should remove it or not.

But you make a good point, and the traffic from it are not that great.

I’m glad you see it this way. I know some major bloggers out there who see it as a ‘me me me’ type of game. Which, maybe it is in a way, but you also have to go with the ethical route every once in a while.

Hey Courtney, I had the same experience with blogrush and I even blogged about it, same kind of feedback, it was a big hit when it first launched, but it’s not worth building because of the low clickthru rates.

Here’s what I posted on my blog…

I never tried to use it, I knew that with the pyramid type layout and my low amount of visitors I would hardly ever see any benefit from it. I am using entrecard though and have seen a dramatic increase in my traffic. Get on the train court, what do you have to lose (reserve the first ad spot for me).

Hey Court, nice article. I agree half way. I wrote something about this topic as well here.

I linked to this article as well, you provide a nice different view.

Thanks a lot!

It is difficult to make up one’s mind about blogrush, it has has such conflicting reviews. I think people are generally pleased with it when they start out but dont like the way it all pans out in the end.

Same here. I gave BlogRush a good go but I launched a new theme on my blog this week and BlogRush was not included this time around.

I am torn on BlogRush - I still have it on my blogs because I believe the John Reese does not put out crap and he will solve the traffic issues. But at the same time it is taking up valuable space on my blog.
