BloggingZoom Hacked
January 24th, 2008 by CourtApparently some people don’t have anything productive to do with their time, because a pack of losers somewhere has hacked BloggingZoom and totally jacked up the server it’s on. Right now we’re working on getting the site back up, and during this time we would appreciate it if you guys could help us to spread the word. I’m sure there are people that have no idea what’s going on and we would like everyone to understand the situation.
The truth is that BloggingZoom is growing very quickly and that obviously poses a threat to quite a few different people. I’m not going to name any names but there are a few different groups and individuals that would stand to benefit if they could slow down the growth of the site.
Vic and I are both making investments that you guys would consider to be very large to ensure that BloggingZoom is here to stay - the site is growing and we will not be stopped by a bunch of weak hooligans that have to resort to this because they can’t come up with something that provides this level of benefit to bloggers.

January 24th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
Who’s we? You and Vic? Apparently Vic doesn’t have anything as of right now. I still don’t know what it is that you have though…
January 24th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
If I don’t have anything, what are you doing commenting on my site? What are you doing at my site in the first place Einstein?

Same guy tried this with Vic - Vic just deleted him to stop any traffic to his site.
January 24th, 2008 at 2:34 pm
It’s horrible to hear this Court. I just recently got into using BZ.
If you or Vic need any help, just let us know.
Good luck with it. I know that kind of stuff is a pain.

I’m a feed reader and have never posted here but i just wanted to say how sorry I am that someone did that to you. I submitted several posts to BZ in the last few weeks and am really impressed with the community feel of the place. Keep up the good work Courtney and don’t let the trolls get you down.

January 24th, 2008 at 5:43 pm
Court,
So sorry to hear that - what a pain. Glad to see that you are remaining so positive. Keep us posted on the developments and let us know what we can do. I will write about it as well.
January 24th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
How can anyone seriously protect themselves from this sort of thing? I know hackers can get into all sorts of sites including governments’.
January 24th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
Court,
Hang in there. It’s really nasty of someone to do this. It’s speak a lot of your character to remain so calm and yet determined in your posts about this event.
January 24th, 2008 at 6:18 pm
I agree, if this happened to me I would lose it. I can’t wait to see Vics post on the subject, I bet it won’t be as calm.
January 25th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
Once Vic starts posting again we might see some words on his post that we didn’t even know existed!
January 24th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
What the $@%&? Why do people spend their days doing crap like this when there are so many other computer-based problems in the world that can be tackled?
Seriously … some hackers need to invest their skills in something useful like plugging security holes in Windows, OSX and Oracle databases. Some of these people clearly have the skills
January 24th, 2008 at 6:42 pm
Sorry this had to happen, Court. It’s just idiotic. Hope it all gets sorted out soon!
January 24th, 2008 at 6:44 pm
Has Vic’s blog been hacked again as well? Couldn’t access his blog too.
So sorry to hear about this. It was only yesterday that I posted in Vic’s blog that I could not do any submissions for my blog to BZ. Maybe this was the reason.
January 24th, 2008 at 7:52 pm

Hi Court,
Sorry to hear, I just blogged about this too to help tell others. Hopefully you get it sorted soon and shame on those idiots who have nothing better to do than hack others.
January 24th, 2008 at 9:29 pm

Do you think e-mails, passwords ‘n such are still secure?

January 24th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
This may or may not be related, but I had a heck of a time in the last three days getting my ISP to let me see either Bloggingzoom or Blogger Unleashed. I spent a couple hours on the phone with tech guys to get them to admit there was some sort of unusual problem at the ISP which let me surf anything but your sites. It seems somehow someone set it so the DNS was not recognized by certain satellites which connect me in Western Canada to the internet. Interestingly enough, only those two sites were unavailable. I could get to any other site I tried or they tried, and this makes me suspect that it’s no coincidence. I don’t know how you would check it out though.

January 25th, 2008 at 7:54 am

January 25th, 2008 at 3:00 pm

If the hacker/s need proof of what impact their deed has had and what it would do in the future for BZ, this blog should be enough. I hope the lowlife is reading this post and the comments.
January 26th, 2008 at 8:57 am
The upside, if I can call that, is that it happen now and not in 6 months when it will be much bigger. For now, it’s still small but it was a pain in the butt for us and mostly for Court/Vic.
We also got a new theme/plugin(nice btw) sooner than expected perhaps
Too bad, I had a spike in traffic and it could had introduced BZ to a lot more people.
January 26th, 2008 at 2:34 pm
No idea if there is one out there yet, but I just finished making my first firefox addon - A BloggingZoom addon =P
January 26th, 2008 at 5:48 pm
That really sucks man. It seems it’s up and running now though. Minor setback.
January 28th, 2008 at 12:23 am
I was just able to open Blogger Unleashed. I was feeling very sorry for Vic and you. I hope whoever done it is feeling sorry now. You both are helping many struggling bloggers, and see what these guys did. It is bad to do such a thing to you guys.
January 28th, 2008 at 7:20 am

bloggingzoom is nothing but a bunch of cheating bloggers voting a countless number of times on their own blogs!
Guest voting is so unfair and wrong! I prefer blogengage, far better and allows for you to guest blog as well
Good luck with this crap site!
March 26th, 2008 at 9:23 am
Vic caught this clown spamming BZ yesterday - gee do you think he wants people to try his site. Lol. Speaks volumes about his credibility…
March 26th, 2008 at 9:29 am
I just got spammed by him on one of my own post about BZ.
Are you sure his the owner of that site? He could had been banned their too thus making them look like spammers too.
