Dateless Sniper 1.0 And 90 SEO WordPress Themes
January 30th, 2008 by Court
Today I have two exciting new announcements, so hopefully it will be one of those days where you’re happy that you have subscribed to my site through RSS. Hopefully by now you guys know that we aren’t messing around at Court’s Internet Marketing School. We want to crank out tools that will help you guys to move forward.
- We now have a new version of the Keyword Sniper 1.0 WordPress theme. Dateless Sniper 1.0 is just like the original Keyword Sniper, except I have removed all references to dates. People that visit a site using this theme will have no way to determine when posts were written. Thank you Mike for a great idea!
- There are now over 90 SEO WordPress themes that are available for free download. To be honest it takes a lot of time and resources to produce those themes, but if you guys could see the messes in the code you would understand why I feel like people need a place to get clean themes. Most designers have no idea how to make a theme work with Google and other search engines. Some designers are straight up malicious and try to hide their links and spam in the themes. We have been through each of these 90 themes and have made changes that will help you to do better in Google and other search engines.
In the future you can watch for even more SEO WordPress themes. We are developing more and more all the time.

Court,
Thanks! I know that is a lot to keep up with, and I thank you!
One important note to everyone.
If your theme that you are using comes with ads, either adsense or banners, etc. already on it for “layout” from the author, don’t forget to remove their links, or code completely!
You could be making someone else money!

Yes I really like that list of 100 wordpress themes. I find it helpful to play around with a couple different themes and see what is the most fitting for your blog.

Elliot I think you bring up a good point and there are countless other ways that people try to manipulate themes. These are really refreshing when you don’t know if you have the right coding for your theme and wondering if your efforts are in vain.

Excellent, Court! I edited your K-Sniper theme 1.0 to remove the dates — but you’ve done one step better. Thanks for continuing to offer value on your site!
I have a question related to tweaking a keyword sniping site for better performance: How often would you change the placement or looks (colors, sizes) of your Google Adsense ads? How long after a change do you wait before you feel confident that you’ve given it a good enough test?
Just wondering if it’s weeks or months… and whether it might take longer when starting out (because there’s less traffic to test on) to give a good test. Thanks!

That’s a great question! I would wait at least a week and then record the data. You will then make the change and give it another week.
I would start by testing the ad placement. Get the best ad placement and then start testing colors. Overall the entire process will take at least a month and each change goes for one week.

Court i think you broke the secret. Now the Blog holder will make necessary changes so that they wont accept those kind of themes to browse there blogs or posting in it.

Thanks for all your effort in creating these themes. Much appreciated.

Thanks for all your work Court. I’m using a few of these themes on niche blogs and they’re working great, well, until Google puts them in the ‘litter box’.
I’ve got a few existing blogs where I’m still tweaking the themes to fit your SEO guidelines. It’s a pain when the CSS is screwy and, to top it off, the designers inject spammy links in hidden divs and the like.

Thank you, thank you! I like the dateless aspect much better, already threw it up on the one I’m creating now.

Yep I had edited out the dates as well, but it’s even easier since you did it… excited now for announcement #2

Dateless Sniper 1.0 And 90 SEO WordPress Themes
Ok guys I have a new version of the keyword sniper theme available! The new version is very much like the original, except I have removed all of the references to time and dates in the theme. This makes it so that individuals that reach your site will …

Court,
I appreciate the free themes you offer and use only your stuff on all my sites. I also leave the links to your site in the footer … I know there are some people that take them out … shame on them!

Yeah Court! I’m glad to have the dateless blog theme with the border now. But for some reason on my PC the theme nearly covers the width of my monitor. Is that right?
January 30th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
Yeah Mike it should cover most of the screen unless you’re using a wide screen monitor.

Thanks for this, Court. This is now my one-stop shop for SEO optimized themes. I can’t use any of them until my family issues are resolved, but I’m glad they’re there for when I get back to business.

Hey, one more thing…
…I fee bad for this theme. I can’t imagine how depressing it must be to be a “dateless sniper”
LOL

How do I increase the font size for posts. (dateless sniper) I looked around in the stylesheet but could not figure it out.
Thanks.

installed and worked on your dateless-sniper two days now. not bad at all, but there are several things that you should change
#1 follow, all
This is not correct, it should be replaced by index, follow
follow, all is not even included in http://www.robotstxt.org/meta.html and if you want to help this defaults is way to go
#2 headertitle is not H1, or H2, this is beginners mistake, by leaving it out
#3 wp-content/themes/modernpaper/images/favicon.ico ?
change it to wp-content/themes/dateless-sniper/images/favicon.ico
otherwise it won’t work.
Other then this, not bad, however almost any WP Theme with All-In-One-SEO should produce just as much.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi.. nice theme. How do we set “recently written” to 5 posts. Right now this my site displays 10 posts.
May 10th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
Thank you for providing all of this for all of us!
I was wondering if it’s ok to change “recently written” to “Pages” and have static pages underneath that heading instead (once I figure out how one sets that up)? Or will that mess up the whole sniper-thing? I have quite a few pages I’d like to have listed right there.
