RevResponse Review - Very Intriguing Model
March 26th, 2008 by Court
While Adsense is still a viable and impressive tool to make money with the internet, there is no doubt that it has certain limitations. It doesn’t work well on every site, and that’s a fact. RevResponse by Netline is marketing itself as an alternative to Adsense, but I believe that it could very nicely be a complimentary money-maker to work alongside Adsense. Overall I’m very happy they ordered this review so that I could take a closer look.
How RevResponse Works
RevResponse is NOT a CPC-based model like Adsense. In other words, you are not paid directly for clicks. You are paid commission by RevResponse for giving away free products and services. You can create widgets (such as the one to the right), text links, or banners that offer free products. If people take you up on the free offer, you will get paid by RevResponse.
How Much Does RevResponse Pay?
Something that I found to be very cool about RevResponse is that each time someone takes advantage of one of the free offers you provide, you will receive at least $1.50. In this case, advertisers are paying to give away their products so that they can make contact with individuals that receive them. They are in essence trying to build their marketing lists. RevResponse says that you will be compensated between $1.50 and $20 for each successful giveaway and has assured me that most of the offers are worth more than $2.00.
RevResponse by default will pay you via check, but also offers PayPal as an alternative. They have their minimum payout at $25 and are sending out payments 45 days after the end of the month in which the revenue is generated. I think they would probably have a more successful service if the turnaround was faster but I guess it isn’t that bad.
What Does RevResponse Give Away?
RevResponse provides you with the opportunity to give away free business resources. Examples of this would be free magazine subscriptions, white papers, and software trials, etc. You are paid whenever a person downloads a free resource. Payouts range from $1.50 to $20.00 per action depending on the offer that the person chooses. One thing that I noticed when I was looking through the list of resources is that they are all about business. Here are the categories of downloads that are available:
- Agriculture
- Automotive
- Biotech and Pharmaceutical
- Computers
- Construction
- Education
- Engineering
- Executive and Management
- Finance
- Food and Beverage
- Government
- Health Care
- Human Resources
- Industrial and Manufacturing
- Internet
- Information Technolgy
- IT - Data Management
- IT - Security
- IT - Software and Development
- IT - Storage
- Insurance
- Mechanical/Machine
- Meetings and Travel
- Multimedia
- Network/Communications
- Purchasing and Procurement
- Retail
- Sales and Marketing
- Small and Medium Business
- Telecom and Wireless
- Trade/Professional Services
- Transportation and Logistics
- Utility and Energy
Those of you that have blogs and sites that have anything to do with business should most definitely check out RevResponse, as you can see the free product categories are right up your alley.
Right now I think that many of you are looking for an alternative to Adsense and we have talked a bunch of different times about different revenue models. I like this model because it’s often a lot easier to give a product away than anything else.

RevResponse Co-branding
RevResponse came up with a great idea that will help each of you to get more people to download reports that you recommend. When the person follows your link to go to Tradepub (which is where they download their content) for their free report, they will find a page that looks very much like your site. Here’s a shot of what my page on looks like:

My page on RevResponse has been set up at courtneytuttle.tradepub.com if you would like to take a look. There’s no doubt that this feature will help each of you to get more downloads and commissions.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this service! I’m going to give it a thumbs up.

Looks very promising. I signed up. I noticed your link had and “invite code”. Is that exactly what it says or is it a referrel link? Just curious if an affiliate program is offered.

Hey Lori that’s a good question. RevResponse ordered this review from me and asked that I used that link so that they could track the results. It isn’t an affiliate link so I won’t be making anything from the people that sign up.

Since you’ve been on the inside, do you think it’s geared towards a certain type of blog or will friendly for every blog type?
It looks like there is a category that would suit all three of my primary blogs but I won’t know for sure until I get in there…if I do.

Lori it looks like it will be friendly to quite a few different blog types. It seems like it would work nicely with BloggingCents.com.

Thanks for the heads up, Court. Can’t remember if this is my first time commenting here but have been wanting to let you that I’ve really enjoyed yours and Mark’s articles and posts very much.
The Revresponse program seems very promising too. I’ve signed up under your link.

Hi Court. Just mentioned this on my blog referencing your blog. I find your blog extremely helpful and this is just another example of how you give back. Nice that you had the chance to do a review on this monetization model. I’m headed over there next to check it out.

I have been using the service for quite some time and think it can be a great addition to other earnings for your blog. Most offers however are targeted to the US market but you do find several international offers as well.
If your visitors are mainly from the US you will do very well, depends on the niche of your website.
Technology for instance is doing very well. If you want you can take a look at my store on their website (remove if you think that’s not ok Court)

I had the best results with posts that list some of the interesting offers in my niche.

Hi Martin,
Thanks for the positive feedback. The direct post tactic you mention is something tons of our partners find great success with.
Keep it up!

Oh and they do have an affiliate program, you have to use the url http://www.revresponse.com/join.php/?refbrand=sitename where sitename is the name of the subdomain.
More information about that on this page: https://www.revresponse.com/referrals

Nice review. I have not had much luck with adsense so this looks like it might be a nice alternative.

Court - As if the fabulous content on your blog hasn’t been enough to keep me coming back again and again (not to mention serving as incentive to start my own blog) now you’ve also gone and answered the one question my wife and I have been struggling with … is adsense the only real game in town.
Thanks so much for this post. We’ll be signing up for Rev first thing in the morning!
