Make Money With Viral Videos

March 27th, 2008 by Court

Gavin from RyanShamus.com has created a truly monstrous article that does a great job of explaining how to create and market videos. Video is without a doubt going to keep growing for a very long time and the potential for driving traffic and making money is truly amazing. You can find the post here: This is One Virus You NEED to Catch.

Gavin included one of the funniest videos I’ve ever seen in the article, seriously this video is HILARIOUS:

I can’t help but imagine how much traffic I would have been able to create if CourtneyTuttle.com was the original source of that video - there’s no doubt that it would have crushed my server like it was an Intel 386!

There are a ton of tips in the article, and I don’t want to ruin them all here. However, I would like to point out a few of the interesting tips I found:

How do you maximize your videos effectiveness?

1. Video clips are best when they are short - 3-5 minutes at the maximum. People tend to have short attention spans and when they are browsing through a site of millions of videos, you only have a few moments to grab their attention.

2. If you want your videos to have viral potential, they need to be provocative, entertaining, interesting and unique.

Here’s another tip on marketing videos:

How do you market your videos?

The best way to market your videos other than by inserting links and tags into the videos themselves is to use services that post your videos to several sites all at once.

The lesson then goes on to show you a bunch of tools that you can use to send your videos to a load of sites. Guys I have to say that this is truly a useful post and I would be doing a disservice if I didn’t point it out to you. The post has resource after resource and if you want to learn how to use video, it’s a must read. Check it out, here’s the post.

That guy’s name is Gary Brolsma and that “Numa Numa” viral clip went gangbusters a few years ago. The poor guy felt so embarrassed ‘cos people in the public would recognise him and subject him to all sorts of ridicule. Great clip though! Nothing wrong with really getting into a song that you like.

Haha, great video. The song is in Romanian, for those of you wondering, and it’s been a massive pop hit a few years back.

[…] However, while the methods of delivery may have expanded, the basics remain the same. Creating a viral video is great “bait” to attract traffic to your web site just as a great television ad can […]

Funny video. Unique, funny and/or provocative will definitely help your videos go viral.
I just can’t bring myself to dance like that in front of the entire http://WWW. :)

That is too freakin’ funny man! Numa Numa Yeah. Whether it came out a year ago or not it’s the first time I’ve seen it from under the rock where I’ve been living.

Oh yeah! Viral! Just like on youtube. Link one video to another. I think it really gets one hooked.

I was lucky enough to experience this. One video = PR6 + a million uniques/month. Did not make much money though :(

This is true! But the key is to stay fresh and up to date. Too many marketers are using videos that have already been passed around. Viral Videos are supposed to provide a shock or a thrill of some kind. Whats shocking or thrilling about a vid you have seen before? Check out my site about “Marketing With Viral Videos” and learn how to stay fresh, and drive traffic and sales through the roof with viral videos!
