Am I wrong in thinking that the speed at which you can get a PR is related to how tough the niche your working is? I get a feeling that if Google hasn't a lot indexed on a given subject and you come along with a blog dealing with the subject, you will get a high PR quite quickly, whereas if you are in a niche already brimming with info, Google has little incentive to index and "validate" you in a hurry. This could explain MLZupan case above. Thoughts?

I swear sometimes I learn more from the comments and discussion than I do from the post, which in this case is a thought provoking and good post.:)

You know, I've heard Vic say it again and again and again...just get links. I think sometimes it is easy to over think things and it slows us down. Sure, there is more to it that just getting links but for me, when I focus on the basics I get more done.

I love the comments on backlinks and page ranking and I have learned a lot from the discussion and comments. However, I don't understand how it can be as important as everyone seems to make it out to be when I have been working on building my web site stats up for sometime and only have a page rank of 2 (creationis.com) while a web site that I built for my brother (zoopcorp.com) has no backlinks, no anything and has a page rank of 3. I know that these numbers don't seem that high but it seems to me like there is something not working in the ranking process.

Any thoughts?

I guess by link campaign is working then, cause my site is only two months old BUT I notice that the gap between crawls started at every 2 weeks and is now to every three days!

It's so timely I hopped into this site after my post on "the next pr update".

I learned a lot from the post and the discussions in the comment section. As of now, whether quality or quantity, it doesn't matter. Because it will eventually change in time. A PR0 will become PR4 in 3 months, or the reverse will happen. I guess every single link is important.
