Ways for Teens to Make Money
May 15th, 2008 by Court
Teenagers can go through literally boatloads of money, especially if they have a car. With gas prices at about $4 per gallon (5/15/2008), life can be difficult for a teenager that’s short on funds. The price of dating, playing sports, and doing other activities can really put a damper on a teen’s lifestyle.
Fortunately, there are plenty of ways for teens to make money. They can get jobs, start businesses, and do chores for family members. This lesson will start with some of the more conventional ways that teens make money and will then go on to some very unconventional ones.
Teens Can Make Awesome Money by Starting Businesses
The ‘wealthiest’ teens out there are all running their own businesses. Businesses that are perfect for teens include lawn mowing, yard cleanup, pet waste removal, pet care, house cleaning, baby sitting, elderly care, and snow shoveling. Yes, some of these are hard work but what do people expect, a teens make money miracle? Money usually requires work!
One kid I know bought a used lawn mower at a thrift store for $10 one summer and turned that $10 into more than $10,000 worth of profits in just one summer. What’s cool about that story is that he turned his lawn mowing business into a very successful landscaping business later in life and now makes much more than a six figure income. Most parents would gladly give a teen a $10 loan to buy a lawnmower (or a $100 loan for that matter). Make money teens!!
Most of the other businesses that teens can run cost basically nothing to start up, other than the cost of some paper to make fliers.
Jobs That Teens Can Get to Make Money
There are certain teens make money jobs that are perfect, including working at fast food restaurants, department stores, clothing stores, and pretty much any other type of store that you would find in most malls.
Some teens won’t want to get a job at first, but will figure out how cool it is to have their own funds. They don’t have to beg mom and dad every time they would like to go do something with their friends. Many times, teens are able to make enough money to buy a car, and that is a dream for most teens. It allows them to grab some off-campus lunch with friends or hit the mall after school.
Untraditional Ways for Teens to Make Money
In this day and age, ‘teens make money’ entrepreneurs are killing it by using the internet, especially if they have the skill set. Blogging has provided great incomes for many teens, in fact there are teen bloggers who are now making more than $100,000 per year from their blogs.
We are now living in an age of global business, and the internet gives us the biggest opportunities for creating income from people everywhere in the world. Teenagers are usually more tech savvy than adults, giving them unique opportunities to create online income. Encouraging your teenager to learn online business can really help them to create a bright future for themselves.
Hopefully this article has given you some ideas. While there are many other ways for teens to make money, we hope that we have been of some help to you.
Make Money Online Teens
There are a select few of ‘make money online teens’ on the internet that are creating income with the internet. A few that I know and respect personally are Casey Flexhaug and Tay from Super Blogging Tips. Those two girls are amazing and teens that are ambitious should definitely look at these two make money online teens that are literally superstars for their age.

Any chance you could point out some of these six-figure teen bloggers? I know that there are lots of teen bloggers, but I haven’t seen a $100k+ yet. Thanks!

When I was a teenager I worked on dairy and produce farms. In rural areas this still may be the most common job for teens but I doubt it is anywhere near as common as it was back in the 80s.

Yeah I’m a teen as well, and I find that learning a web language like XHTML or PHP is the best way to go… You don’t have the hit and miss problems making money blogging and people are always in need of designs or code.
But I would like to know who you mean by those six figure teen bloggers, because I’ve never heard of any?
May 30th, 2008 at 4:34 am
To Jylan Wynne : I totally agree with you. Learning a few web languages such as PHP, XHTML and CSS is very much useful. Add that with a little bit of Photoshop skills and you have the potential to become a web designer. There are many people out there looking for design or code for their blogs or sites. You can make cool bucks doing these jobs. There are many teenbloggers out there who are earning a lot like Carl Ocab, etc.

I have looked in many places on the web for money making opportunities. I have come across many scams as well as websites that don’t pay well or have a high minimum payout. The best website I could find is mylot.com where you are paid to start and add to discussions. I have come across many scam websites so I have spent time to research this one. They pay in paypal, the minimum is 10 dollars to cash out, it is 100% free, it is virus free unlike some ptc’s, there is no tax info needed, and it is also entertaining and not boring. The only thing I will tell you is that they update your earnings every 24 hours so it looks like you have 0 dollars for the first day. Look for reviews online or read the FAQ if you wish but I can assure you that it is the best you will find. It is a lot like a paid version of yahoo answers if you ask me. If you decide to sign up please use my referral link: http://www.mylot.com/?ref=mrpsychotic (you will make the same amount)Good luck!!

Some people don’t realize the power of the internet. I came across this site that is similiar to myspace, facebook, hi5 etc the good part about it is that they’re giving their members a chance to earn money from the site. So far there’s only 20,000 members and new members are joining everyday. As a college student I’ve been able to benefit from the site pretty good because i have introduce the site to my class mates. Now I’m earning some good cash because my friends are referring their friends and so forth.

[…] If your child would prefer to work for someone else, there are still plenty of options. Many companies will hire people to stuff and seal their mailing envelopes. Another idea is always a paper route. If your neighborhood isn’t in need of a paper carrier, then finding out what the needs of your neighbors are is a place your child can start. Maybe there is someone who will pay your child to walk or wash their dog. Yard work is also something that a kid can help with. Many people hire kids to help around the house. Cleaning is something that many kids enjoy and if they are paid to do it, they will absolutely love it. Knowing that they will be able to buy things they want can provide a lot of extra motivation for kids. I find that kids nowadays don’t like to do manual work like mowing the lawn or house cleaning. They prefer to sit in front of the computer or TV, so a job enabling them to do that might work fine.

It’s amazing. When I was in grade 5 my friend and I went and door knocked to see if they wanted their cars washed for $5. We made $30 ea that day. I was only young at the time and we went straight to the shop to buy lollies (candy) after a full day of washing cars door to door. Only if I would have taken that lesson 20yrs ago. Now with the internet here the possibilities are endless if you put your mind and take action. Go gettem kids. Great post man reminds me when I first had that entrepreneur spirit.

I recently joined this social site that is similar to myspace, facebook and the other social sites out there. The only difference about this site is that you are paid for every active member that you refer to the site. Anyone from the age of 17 or older is eligible to join and if you are under age a parent consent is needed so that you can receive your referral commissions. Think about referring all of your friends from myspace, facebook, tagged, ect. Great money making opportunity for high school kids….

Great points. I am a teen as well, and I have done a few things online to try and make money from ecommerce to mlm. There are plenty of opportunities for teens to make money online.

FOR ANYBODY WHO WANTS TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE YOU MUST TRY REWARDS1!!!!!
It is basically a site where you complete surveys to earn points. After racking up enough points, you cash them in to get a prize (such as game consoles, ipods etc). I’ll explain excactly how it works..
Okay, so first thing you need to do is get a “junk” email account. Since you’re going to be getting a lot of junk mail you’re not going to want it all going to your real email address, so this is what this new email account will be used for.
Step 1: Sign Up
Go to: rewards1.co m/index.php?referrer_id=742399 and sign up.
Once you get there click SIGN UP on the menu bar on the left and fill out your information.
They will ask you for your email. I recommend you give them your real one because this is easier for verification. If you give them your spam one you might accidentally delete it. The site doesn’t spam you its all the offers you will be doing that send the junk email.
They also ask for your address. Don’t worry too much about this all they need your address for is to mail you prizes.
After you signup they will send you a confirmation link to your email address you entered. Click the link and you’re done. The email should come pretty quick (usually instantly). And make sure you check your spam folders.
Step 2: Complete Offers
Once inside you can check out the prize list.
To earn points click on “Available Offers”. There you will see a whole list of offers and how many points you’ll get if you complete that offer. When filling out an offer you don’t have to give your real home address or phone number. And make sure you use your spam email account because believe me you will be spammed. Also, be sure to check your email occasionally for those offers that require email confirmation otherwise you won’t get credited for completing the offer properly.
Here are a few tips for filling out offers:
1. Read the offer carefully so you know exactly what to do to get the points.
2. Delete cookies before every offer
3. Complete offer with realistic information
4. Use a browser that accepts cookies and turn your security down
5. Let each page load completely
Also remember that even though most of the time you’ll get the points 5-10 minutes after completing the offer, some may take up to a day or more (depending on the offer). So don’t worry if you don’t see the points just keep going they will appear if you’ve done everything correctly.
Step 3: Claim Your Prize
After you have enough points you can now go to “Available Prizes” and see what you can cash those points in for. This is the fun part. =)
They have a ton of prizes. You’ll see stuff like consoles (Xbox, PS3, Wii), video games, iPods, etc. There are Xbox Live cards in the “Xbox” section and will be emailed to you. Physical prizes like iPods and video games will deliver so make sure your address is correct before you claim a prize that requires shipping.
Also, something many people don’t realize is that if you don’t see anything you like you can actually send a request for a custom prize. Just send support a ticket with a link to what you want from amazon.com and they’ll let you know how many points you’ll need. Basically it will be a point for every dollar.
Thats it!
hope i could help.

Hey, I’m a teen and I make money on http://cashcrate.com/1111821 , I thought it was a scam but it’s not.
The first month joining I made minimum so I wouldn’t be scammed out of a lot of money, and was really surprised when a 20 dollar check showed up in the mail. You do surveys for money, and also play games.

Another good way I make money (and I’m 17) is to freelance. If you have a talent for web design, web coding, writing or anything, you can make money off that. I have been into web design for 5 years and I started freelancing last year. Since then, I have made good money.
I hope more teenagers and kids get involved in freelancing. It takes determination, but if you love web design or writing, then you can do it.

Some of the ways I made money as a teen were lawn mowing and shovelling snow. You could make a killing from some of the local ederly citizens that just want someone to talk to. I would spend an hour cutting the grass and then another two chatting with them getting paid.
September 11th, 2009 at 9:20 am
Do you really think it’s so easy to make money for teens? Certainly your suggestions look good, but in a case they are completely realistic why many teenagers can’t find any way to earn money? Many of them wish to have own funds, but they can’t find anything worth doing or can’t combine work and study.
