How To Register A Domain Name

Proud Domains is a very reliable registrar and is actually cheaper than most of the big names including GoDaddy.com, Register.com, and Yahoo.com.
This video is part of my ‘How To Start A Blog‘ series, which will contain more than 50 videos that will help you to create, configure, and run a blog for profit. This one will, of course, show you how to register a domain name. Make sure that you subscribe through RSS if you don’t want to miss a video.

Those controls look very similar to GoDaddy. Who runs Proud Domains?
Another question … it seems like most of the SEO guys, Internet Marketing Guys, and so forth register all their domains as PRIVATE so no contact information is available. You say that it doesn’t really matter, but for backlinking strategies and so forth are you sure you want people deconstructing your “empire”? Lol.

I also wanted to ask about the private info. I guess that is something we have to fill up, otherwise we are told that if that info is not accurate we may end up getting in trouble.
Court, my domain providers provide a service where they hide my personal information for $5 per domain, do you use the same service?

Some web hosting services charge to hide your personal information, but I’d pick one that offers it for free. I know Bluehost doesn’t charge, and I’m sure there are others.

Hi Court,
Your site is great and these videos are great - I just wish they were coming out every day - I await each one so much I feel like I’m sitting on pins and needles. . Guess that keeps me (and others) coming back though. I hope my site eventually gets to that type of a point - people anxiously awaiting my next posting.
I have a question for you - as I view the videos I see lots of things on your toolbars. Could you explain those and let me (all of us) know what they do, why they are important - and most importantly - how to get them?

I watched the video and wished I had seen it before I bought my domain. It took me 4 days to get my domain. This was because you have to either have a credit card or debit card with your paypal or they won’t accept it without it. (My paypal is thru my checking account) Yikes, I called and emailed and all that, it was a long drawn out ordeal. Finally, I went and got a prepaid credit card and used that (it worked) proceeded to get a web host and finally the blog. Believe it or not it took 3 weeks to get a domain, a web host and for blog to go live.

Proud Domais , http://www.prouddomains.com/ is not working for me, I have been trying since morning and I keep getting a request timed out.
Is anyone else having this problem??

Court, in your 5236 words on blogging you stated it is easy to set up wordpress using hosting @ Proud Domains. Does the same apply for Host Gator?
