Make Money With Adsense
You experienced ‘make money online’ veterans might want to take a pass on this post, this one is tailor made for those that are starting out.
Once you have a website up and running you will need to take some time to learn how to make money with it. Without question the easiest way to monetize is with Google Adsense, especially if you are just starting out.
How It’s Possible To Make Money With Adsense
Google makes almost all of its money because advertisers bid against each other to achieve good positions in Google’s paid listings. When you search for a set up words (called keyword phrases) Google will return both free results and results that people pay to come up in. Here’s a picture of what you get if you do a search in Google for ‘real estate’, I have outlined the paid listings for you in red:
The sites that are willing to pay the most will appear at the top of the page, and the sites that won’t pay as much appear on the right side, in descending order. These sites that are paying to appear in the paid listings get charged each time someone clicks on their listing. They are charged per click - in other words they are using a type of advertising called ‘Pay Per Click’. They pay each time someone clicks, hopefully that wasn’t too redundant.
The ‘Pay Per Click’ advertising model is what makes it possible to make money using Adsense. Google built a program that allows you to put their paid listings on your site. They still get paid when someone clicks on the paid listings, and they will share their revenue with you.
By using Adsense, you don’t have to make deals with any advertisers at all, Google has already done it for you. You just have to sign up for their program so you can start placing their ads on your site. Google charges you absolutely nothing to use their service. It’s 100% free to sign up for Adsense.
Getting Signed Up For Adsense
I would recommend making sure that you have a site that has at least 10 pages before you sign up for Adsense. The only times I’ve seen people get rejected they either had very small sites (1-2 pages) or sites that didn’t have a topic. If you don’t know what your site is about, you better figure it out before you sign up! Once your site has a topic and 10+ page, follow these steps:
1. Click on one of the banners on this page that says, “Generate revenue from your website with Google Adsense.” I’ve placed one right here to make it easy:
2. Click the ‘Sign up now’ button on the upper, right-hand corner. Right now it looks like this (it could, of course change):
3. Fill out the sign-up form. The only part of the form that’s tricky is where it says website URL. That is the address of your website - I would put courtneytuttle.com there. You will put your website’s name there
4. Read and accept the program policies that appear below the form.
5. Click ‘Submit information’.
That’s it! It usually take Google a few days to respond to your application. Once they respond, come back and visit the lesson that helps you to install your Google Adsense.
