Everybody with a website wants a higher pagerank so that they can make more money online. We all want to be the first search result for keywords. So how do you go about doing this? Well there are several simple and cheap (free) ways to get the ball rolling. We have all heard that content is king and long term that really is the case. If your content sucks you will never get to where you would like to in the online biz. But assuming you write good content the question is, how can I accelerate my site traffic? A legitimate question for sure. So here are a few of the easiest ways to do just that. Some take some work but none of them have to cost you any money.
Directories- I have heard the common misconception that directories cost money. Some but most of them also have a free option. Yes, I know a lot got whacked on their pagerank because they sell links but I still think it is worth getting a link. It takes a minute to list your site and you get a link back. Besides Google isn’t the only search in town. Yahoo still sees the backlink. Also the directory got the hit not the sites that it has listed.
The D-List- If you are here you have probably heard of the D-List. It is a list of Do-follow blogs. The D-List is great for a few reasons. One is that you get to leave comments and get backlinks. Two is that everyone gets more comments than they would if they weren’t on the list. And three is that you get to meet a ton of other bloggers. This last point is really the best part long term. If you go through the whole list you will get a ton of links but you will also find at least a few great blogs that cover similar topics as you. Overtime making friends with other bloggers is rewarding both in business terms and in the fact that most of your fellow bloggers are good people.
BlogRaters- Now comes my favorite way to get a good backlink. One of my sites BlogRaters.com is a site basically devoted to reviewing blogs. It is also a do-follow blog as well as a PageRank 3 blog. Basically if you submit your blog and I review it you get a few backlinks and some more exposure. Yes, I benefit as well but that is the beauty of the blogging business. A lot of what is good for one of us is good for all of us. No, we don’t review every request we get. Nor did every blog reviewed ask to be reviewed. But if you don’t submit you will not get reviewed.
We have covered 3 simple ways to get quality backlinks. After working on your content backlinks are the number two most important thing you can do to help your site. It is the number one factor in search rankings.
Happy Blogging,

Very good ideas Dave. BlogRaters is definitely an easy way to get a PR3 link.
Blograters looks like a really good site, added their rss and looking forward to reading some more reviews.
Also whilst roaming entrecard spotted Bloggin-ads.com, a new blog that aims to review other blogs throughout the blogosphere - pretty cool I think.
Thanks, very good information. Just learned about this tonight!
Nice ideas on SEO and backlinking. What about a stucture for an e-mail campaign or even advertising CD’s with links?
I try to keep relevant links on www.tigermuaythai.com that relate to what our site content is about.general and specific.

Interesting info, read somewhere lately that google have penalised sites, such as some article directories and discounted links from them, is this not the case with blogs? Our site http://www.chrysalisfinance.co.uk has many links from articles and am now concerned this may have been a waste of time.
Thanks for your valuable piece of information as I’m looking for some link building tips. You have presented some simple steps that would certainly help the most out of the beginner bloggers. Keep up your hard works! Love~
