I first started my blog around the beginning of December last year, so it’s a baby really. I immediately added some content, and edited the time stamp so as to give it some sort of authority when people/robots started looking. I should probably point out though, that I’ve never done one before (aside from a few on Myspace etc for my band).
I’m pretty lucky in that my brother has an already fairly established blog (although we’ll talk about that in a minute), so gave me a few tips which meant it didn’t take me a month to figure out how to upload Wordpress to the domain name I’d registered.
First up - content. I’d wanted to start a blog, and realized the only thing I knew about that was of interest was Sound Engineering; who wants to read about unsigned bands? Not me. I work for a 70’s band, most of whom are still alive in some capacity. I’d done some research and found a few sites dedicated to the trade, as well as those that I already knew about, and fortunately found out there were no daily blogging sites about pro audio (and not THAT many about home audio stuff either). In fact there were only a handful of sites (although quite established) that crossed over with my area of interest.
Gradually I’ve found more resources, but as for linking - no one wants the competition. Maybe that’s why they’re not particularly pimped out for the google bots - clueless.

I’m lucky that I have an almost endless amount of time to dedicate to this, so I’ve gradually been learning the necessary skills to run a blog - and even on a platform as easy as Wordpress, there are many skills!
Obviously Court’s tips on SEO are brilliant, and among the best I’ve found on the net. If anyone has any resources for GOOD css editing, let me know please.
At the moment I’m trying to max out my Stumble, Digg, Technorati (etc etc) friends list. My god what a friendly bunch.
I’m doing an ok job of using that to divert traffic to my site as well as my brother’s - Greenbang - a website tracking the explosion of business and technology, and its effect on the environment.
The point of all this? The same as all of you - traffic.
Any pointers on seo stuff gratefully received.
