My next door neighbours get their lawns cut every week. Rain, hail or shine, two different mower men turn up every Tuesday to do the edges and cut the grass, keeping it looking spiffy… and of course, collecting their fee religiously.

It was even raining this past Tuesday, yet there they were!

Now if you know anything about grass… as you’d expect lawn mower men should… you’d know that regular mowing - or in their case “scalping” because they cut it sooooooooo short - is simply NOT good for the grass.

Summer can get pretty warm in this part of the world (NSW Australia) and I’m just waiting for the first series of really hot days to come and watch what happens to these beautifully manicured lawns.

A few days of scorching heat will see them reduced to a parched patch of bare earth, with little chance of recovery once the heat passes. But the weeds will be OK because there’ll be no competition from the grass.

And THEN what will the mower men do?

Well, I’ve still seen them mowing, kicking up piles of dust as they mow the weeds every week, and of course, collect their fees from their “customers”.

What can Internet Marketers learn from this?

How often might you be “mowing” your list?

Are you over-doing it to the point where it’s not good for your customers?

What happens when they decide they don’t want to “pay” you every week once they see their lawn turn to dust?

Maybe you should fertilise with a bit of information to help them grow stronger for a change?

I am so over getting literally hundreds of “Buy Me” … “No! Buy ME Instead!” emails from the various lists I’ve subscribed to. Very few Internet Marketers seem to actually offer any real “content” that’s valuable and will help me grow… grow my business, grow my knowledge, grow my bank balance.

Don’t They Realise That You Shouldn’t Write Every Email You Send To Your List In This Upper/Lower Case Style Because It Says That You Are Selling Something Every Time I See It???

Maybe it’s about time to do a little “pruning” of my own :)
