Should Money Or Traffic Be Your Primary Focus When You’re Starting A Blog?

When starting out a blog, there are always many concerns. Will you make money? Will you be successful? Will anyone visit your blog? Will you get ranked at the top of the search engines? These are just a few examples of what might be going through your head. But when you are starting your blog, should your main focus be on getting a lot of traffic or on making good money.

Now generally the motivation behind your blog may be money. Blogs are a great way to share information and earn some money on the side in the process. But when you are just starting out, you may notice that large sums of money are not being sent to your doorstep.

Like any business, this takes a lot of work and it may not come as quickly as you would like. There are a few ways that you can try to jump start the traffic on your site which will then make you money.

Money Only For Value

People like good, quality blogs. If you are in it only for the money and don’t put sufficient effort into your blog, people will be able to tell. If your blog is full of great content and wonderful information, this will attract more and more people.

Word of mouth is great free advertising so take advantage of it. If your blog is just full of keywords that will show up in a search, but the content is lacking, you will not get the traffic that you originally hoped for. People like quality blogs.

Follow The Steps Of Proven Blogs And Be Social

Visit other sites that you think are well designed and contain lots of useful information. Don’t be afraid to leave comments, but you don’t need to request that they visit your site. Not only can this be annoying but sometimes it is a turnoff and you may not have many visitors by using this tactic. But by leaving helpful comments, others will be able to notice your expertise and take a look at what you have to offer on your own blog.

Another great way to get your name out there is to offer to guest blog on other blogs for free. You don’t need to get paid to advertise your name and blog. This is a great way to build a good reputation, especially if you offer for several different blogs.

Build Strong Connections

Never turn down an offer from someone. You never know when they will return the favor and it could be in a moment when you need it the most. If no one excepts your offers, request a few guest bloggers from different blogs in your same area that have high traffic. This will attract others to your blog.

Mainly keep in mind that they money should not be your main focus when it comes to starting a new blog. If it is your sole purpose, then you should maybe look somewhere else. But, when the money does start coming in, you can be more grateful. Focus on your blog and the traffic will come with your honest and hard efforts.
