Whenever you start your own internet business or webpage, there are always new tricks and tips to learn and apply with your new business. Especially when you see that others are successful at what they are doing, you most definitely want to be just as successful, if not more, than them. So exactly how do you figure things out and get your webpage at the top of the search engine list?
Search Engines Or Search Users?
One big discussion is whether or not you should optimize for the search users or the search engines. Like most things, both sides have pros and cons, and it is up to you to decide what the best option for your website is. And keep in mind that a lot of it has to depend on what type of internet business you have decided to start and where you want to go with it. There are always many factors and every situation is different, but there are some tidbits of advice that can apply to most situations.
When we talk about optimizing, we are talking about tailoring to meet the needs of either the search users or the search engines. Both parties are looking at different things and what you need to decide is how you will be the most successful with the means that have been provided to you.
Optimize For Search Engines
If you were to choose to optimize to the search engines, your work may be simple and get you good results quickly. This way you are setting up your webpage so that search engines are looking at something different than search users. A lot of experts recommend that you always optimize to the search engines so that your page is ranked high and very quickly.
They also recommend that Google be your first priority since it is one of the most used search engines in the world. If your webpage can get ranked high with Google, than you really do not need to worry about other search engines.
Optimize For Search Users
Your other option would be to optimize to the search users. This means that you tailor to the people who are looking for web pages just like yours. This deals with more emotion and may require a bit more work but could be more than worth it in the end. When trying to get your website out there, you need to keep in mind that there are more resources to finding your webpage than just search engines. E-mails, newsletters, social media and word of mouth are also great options.
When you optimize to the search users, you are making it a bit more personal and it may take a bit longer to get your website ranked highly. But, in the end, you may get more hits than you would have by optimizing to the search engines.
What you must keep in mind is that there are two sides to everything and there is not a right or wrong answer. Each option has its benefits and set backs. You need to just take a step back and decide what is best for you. And keep in mind that if you try it one way and it doesn’t work out, you are always free to make some changes and see what happens. Don’t get discouraged, just make changes and things will come out as you want them to.
