Manning your own blog can be a full time job when you have to deal with all the upkeep, the comments, the posts and making sure everything is working how it should. A lot of people may enjoy this type of work but for others, it’s not really their cup of tea. Luckily there is the option to blog for someone else. But like most options, there are ups and downs of both sides.
A Decent Job
If you choose to blog for someone else, there are a lot of different benefits. One thing is that you have a steady paycheck. You get to express yourself freely and your paycheck is guaranteed. Some companies may even pay you extra bonuses for extra traffic that you bring in.
For Those That Don’t Like To Maintain A Site…
Another reason why you might want to blog for someone else is because they will be doing all the hard, behind the scenes work. You don’t have to try and find advertising, worrying about all the maintenance issues, or regulating the blog. All you have to do is write exciting text to keep the readers entertained. And then you let others worry about all the behind the scenes work.
If you have your own blog, it is sometimes fun to expand your horizons by writing for a different blog and exploring different avenues. It can also help you become a more fluid author and learn how to express ideas differently. As a blogger, you should always try to find ways to improve what you are doing to help you continue to have readers.
Make A Wise Decision
If you don’t think that you should start writing for someone, look at all the pros and cons before making a decision. One downside that sometime happens when others hire others to blog for them is that they sometimes stop worrying about content and want high numbers and large traffic instead. The content is the most important part of the blog and if your blog isn’t entertaining, you won’t have a lot of traffic.
A lot of times when bloggers are looking for writers for them, they have a certain amount of posts that they want in a certain amount of time. This can kill the entertainment of writing but also can be useful to get from them to have a large bank of articles to post. If you are writing for someone else and feel like the quota they ask you feel is too large, don’t be afraid to let them know what you think.
There are always going to be good and bad to every situation but keep in mind that no matter what kind of job you are working, there will be ups and downs. There will be things you like and don’t like. Unfortunately there aren’t enough perfect jobs for us all.
Try to focus on the positive and decide if you really will enjoy what you are doing. If you start writing for someone else and decide you really like it then stick to it. You can even look for a few more blogs to write for. But remember that you should always enjoy what you are doing, whether it’s for your own blog or someone else’s.
